DEPA Applauds the President’s Speech on Environmental Protection

Oklahoma City — 07/09/2019 — The Domestic Energy Producers Alliance (DEPA) supports President Trump’s July 8, 2019 speech on America’s leadership in pursuing effective policies to advance environmental protection while promoting economic growth. The President said, “My Administration is committed to being effective stewards of our environment while encouraging opportunities for American workers and their families.” “Nowhere is the American ideal of a clean and improving environment while allowing American workers and their families countless opportunities more evident than in the energy renaissance that has occurred in the US over the past ten years” said Jerry Simmons DEPA executive director.
US oil production hit 12.2 million barrels per day (B/D) in April of 2019. This is up from 5.3 million B/D in 2009. Over the past ten years US natural gas production has increased nearly 45 percent to 37 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in 2018. As a result, the US is now the largest energy producing country in the world and is on course to become the largest energy exporter on the planet in the next five years. At the same time from 2016 to 2017 the US saw overall decreases in greenhouse gases across all sectors of the economy and the total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions reported decreased by 2.7 percent from 2016 to 2017 according to the EPA. This decline in greenhouse gas emissions occurred at a time of record US oil and gas production and rapidly expanding economy.
